This blog has been under development for around six weeks now.
We've got all the videos from our previous tournaments up, and linked in. There's still work to be done neatening those sections, but they're available for browsing.
The challenge zone is up - but only just! There's still a lot of work to be done arranging that for ease of access, but you can look at the complete list and watch the challenge videos.
We've not yet begun adding ladder battle videos. That's the next major section, but probably wont be started until the challenge zone is more developed.
And I've just finished adding the GDC 08 Tournament videos (you should be able to see a few below). This is the first freechaku tournament to run since the blog has been up, and hopefully we'll learn a few things about the best way to integrate blog and forum before the World Cup in January.
There's still a long way to go before this site is the ultimate portal for freechaku activites - but we're getting a little closer every day.

Initial Plans
Everyone that helps run the forum is now a part of the Freechaku Federation, so the Federation runs the forum.
The Federation runs the Chuck-Offs, Challenge Zone, World Cups and Ladder events. If the people who ran the Team Shaolin and FBB tournaments join the Federation, the Federation runs them too. Every Federation member who releases move demonstrations and tutorials is considered a teacher of a school. Every unit is run completely autonomously but throws their weight together to create a whole greater than the sum of it's parts.
Ideally I'd like practitioners of Lissajous-do, WNA, NANA, NFA, Precision Strikes, Woodall's, and any other nunchaku related organization to be a part of the Federation. As the Federation is a non-profit organization, any commercial organization wishing to be a partner of the Federation would be expected to make small donation towards the upkeep of the website.
The next step is to create this website. We're going to start at the beginning and bring things up to date.
Step zero is to add a brief overview of the organizations and people involved.
Step one is to add Dave's Fun Forum competition, the first forum tournament. Start with an entry explaining the tournament. Then each video that entered needs it's own blog entry, with text explaining how it did in the comp, links to the threads taking about it (possibly quotes too), links to their profile page, youtube page, myspace, facebook, everything. Start with the champions and work down. Each video has links to prev/next vid in that comp for easy browsing and to the other categories in that tournament.
Step 2 is to repeat step 1 for each tournament, bringing it up to date - including the Team Shaolin and FBB tournaments if they join.
Step 3 is to add the ladder battles, again starting at the beginning and bringing it up to date.
Step 4 to add the challenges.
Step 5 is to add the tutorial schools.
Step 6 is to add article summaries of the most common topics on the forum.
It's a massive project, and it would take me forever to do it on my own. The only way it's going to get done is with you guys helping when you can. It doesn't have to happen exactly in this order, and we can break it down into it's many components.

The administration of the FF itself is a 'real world' organization. There will be a chairman and a board of directors. It will also be ran on national and regional grounds, with each nation having a director and as many regional leaders as they feel necessary (or want to get involved). The FF will also co-ordinate endeavors online, with teams drawn from all nations (or regionally) to run different websites and their associated endeavors.

The primary goals are to support the growth of freestyle nunchaku (and other nunchaku uses) as an activity and as an art. This breaks down into supporting existing enthusiasts, attracting new enthusiasts, advancing the field, and legitimizing the practice. Each of these goals would be pursued through a wide variety of avenues, both 'real world' and online.
What is the link with FNF (apart of "site sister")?
FNF would remain a forum for freestyle nunchaku, through which many FF ventures are run.

Once we have a more comprehensive plan of how best to approach out goals, we can work out the best way for individuals to contribute. Currently I'm still compiling a list of individuals (around 50) to invite to the first caucus, where a lot of these details will be ratified. These include the admin here and from other leading nunchaku websites (FBB from Poland, Team Shaolin from France), as well as those individuals with a proven commitment to freechaku.

The word freechaku has grown from the art of freestyle nunchaku. The nunchaku is usually considered a weapon. Two sticks connected by cord or chain that are used as a flail to strike with, or for blocks and holds. Freestyle began as a section in martial arts tournaments, choreographing a display of moves to music. When Bruce Lee popularized the nunchaku in Western society the nunchaku moved into the hands of popular culture, where the emphasis shifted from combat relevance as a weapon to swinging them around and having fun. Over time people started discovering their own new moves and new styles which they began sharing over the internet. When YouTube became available the ease of sharing accelerated the growth of the international freestyle nunchaku community, with freestyleforum.net its nexus.
Freechaku means 'free nunchaku', free to be used in any way you can imagine, not simply as a weapon (although they have fascinating dynamics when studied as a weapon). Freechaku means freeing other people's perception of nunchaku as a weapon, showing them other ways to use them. Freechaku means freeing the nunchaku from the tight leash many governments keep them under, and making them a perfectly acceptable sporting tool, like a baseball bat or tennis racket.

My name is Chris Campbell.
I'm British, born in 84, which at this time of writing makes me 23.
I've been practicing freestyle nunchaku since 2002.
Under the alias 'Kriztov' I joined freestyleforum.net, an online community for freestyle nunchaku in 2005.
I became a moderator for the forum in 2006.
I became an administrator for the forum in 2007.
In my time as a member of the FF.net forum, I've seen the the art of freestyle nunchaku and the international community that fosters it grow; evolving steadily into something unique that I'm very proud to be a part of.
We share advice, ideas, videos and tutorials. We run games, challenges, battles and tournaments. New members keep joining and suggesting even more activities. I want to see where we can go; how far we can take this.
I've felt for a long time that the community needs a focal point. We currently have the FF.net administration team, but that's partially about the day-to-day business of running an internet forum. I want to separate the administration of the forum from the administration of the art and its associated competitions.
As such, I'm launching the Freechaku Federation.
It's form and function is still in flux. There's still much work to be done. But I feel better to have begun. On the 1st of September, 2008, the Freechaku Federation is born.
