In October 2008, Martin Bois, (gomartgo) proposed a competition for unusual and/or creatively directed nunchaku videos.
As he went on to organise it, the tournament was named The GoMartGo Directors Competition.
Running in November 2008, the tournament voting structure was arranged by José Miguel Vicuña Herrera, (jmvicuna). All the videos begin in one large group stage. Sixteen videos entered, and members have eight votes to pick their top fifty percent of the entries.
After ten days of voting the results of the group stage will be used to determine the videos' positions in a one-on-one knock-out tournament, with members voting for their favorite of two videos in each match, progressing to a final.

The Daveaminal Fun Forum Competition
As he went on to organise it, the tournament was named The Daveaminal Fun Forum Competition.
It was originally organised with four categories, based on how long each competitor had been using nunchaku. (forum)
1 month to 1 year of practice.
1 year to 2 years of practice.
2 years to 8 years of practice.
More than 8 years of practice.
In the end nobody classed in the 'more than 8 years of practice' group actually submitted their videos, so there were three categories, each decided by member voting.

With a total of 10 entries across 3 categories, it was only a baby tournament compared to our more recent efforts, but the DFF was the first and will always have a special place in our history.
